-         No further updates on the PF Murray property yet

New Business

-         The Lynch business is still planning to move to Knapp Drive- just a few issues with land have come up which are delaying it

-         DPW is trying to keep up with the barrels along the streets but we encourage all members/business owners to clean up in front of their locations. For problematic ones- contact the Quality of Life task force, before Code Enforcement. Should the association send out letters to our neighbors?

Brockton Housing Authority

The redevelopment of the Brockton Housing Authority’s Campello High-Rise- to be called “Th Residences at Campello” hopes to break Ground July 2024, and will take appx 3-4 years to build 2 new buildings along the front of Main St from the BAT terminal up past where the Self Help building currently sits. They will have glass window fronts with a library and wrought iron fencing, and a riverwalk along the Salisbury River. No residents will be displaced during this transition.

More information to attached.

Montello Business Association

The city received a grant from the Parks department for the George Snow clock- located at the junction of North Main & East Main is listed in the US National Register of Historic places (the only weight driven clock in the US, which Greg Belcher winds himself on a weekly basis!) Also- heads up that the water line construction has begun from Battles to Oak

Councilor Update

Councilor Nicastro attended the State of the City by Mayor Sullivan. In addition to focusing on the city’s economic development- the Mayor has made a commitment to cleaning up the city as “Perception is reality.” The clean city initiative will involve Code enforcement & Quality of life task force- with department heads meeting every 2-3 weeks to discuss the issues.

Also- multiple restaurants came before the board looking to extend their hours to a 2am closing- all were denied. A lively discussion followed on why that was necessary in our community.

On April 11 th the PF Murray property & Hyacinth properties will need our support for building new residences. If you can’t attend- consider writing a letter supporting new construction at the end of Campello’s reach. Asked what would become of the old candy factory- storage.

The planning board has 2 items on the agenda:

-         Alicia Fernandes is looking for a 2 family at 1449 Main St

-         10 Father Kinney way for the Council on Aging (temp home is Shaw’s center) Anything we can do would be appreciated. We have so many seniors and they need more room.

Lastly- Councilor NiCastro had the pleasure of walking/meeting with Senators Markey & Warren, as well as Congressman Lynch and received 5 million dollars on behalf of the city. 3 million will go towards the Cosgrove pool on Crescent st and 2 million will go directly into Ward 4 improvements- working on the issues related to the Waste Water treatment

A request was made from the Association that when there are upcoming events/motions that the Councilors notify us.
