- We were so very sorry to hear about the fire at 880 Main Street on 6/20. The Association reached out to the Owners offering our condolences and support. We encourage our members to reach out individually as well. Contact info below:

John Nesti & Andrea Kingman- Mass Hire
- MassHire creates and sustains powerful connections between businesses and jobseekers through statewide network of employment professionals. Our 25 MassHire Career Centers connect jobseekers and businesses for employment opportunities, and our 16 MassHire Workforce Boards engage business in building long-term talent solutions across the Commonwealth.
- The Career Center offers jobseekers a range of services, such as working with seasoned career counselors to locate career development workshops and short-term training, accessing current local and statewide job openings, resume and cover letter writing, and more. MDCS also supports Massachusetts employers with recruitment and hiring services, including resume screening, promoting job openings, and applying for tax credits. This includes a youth program which helps students to learn a good work ethic, professional expectations, etc.... preparing them for a good career path. They also offer workshops for job seekers & training as well as helping businesses wherever they are in the hiring process.
- Their program is state and federally funded & businesses are already paying for the services so they should take advantage of them!
- A Resource Guide for Businesses was made available of the services they can assist with. If interested in a copy- please contact Karla.
Councilor Susan Nicastro- Ward 4
- Very happy to announce they approved the annual city budget for all except the school and the general feeling was that “the school could bankrupt the city without reform.” While there were cuts, there were no layoffs. There were cuts to services but no personnel from fire or police.
- A forensic investigation is being conducted into who made the decisions for the spending of the school budget and from those findings the committee can make decisions for future.
- Huntington will remain a school for children
Officer Derek Salamone (unavailable due to student cadet graduation)
- Only 1 car investigated/called in with no finding
Chief Edward Williams
- Fireworks task force will run thru July and will take over Tremont St with 4 cars on patrol on 7/3 & 7/4. It’s been quiet so far but will also use newly installed cameras to monitor
- The Campello fire got ahead of them by about 30 min getting there, with hot spots back in between the ceilings. It will take a while to clean as the piles contain asbestos which is considered a dirty load and can take 193 days to remove.
9/24, 12 noon Location: TBD. We would love for another location to host & thank fellow member Italian Kitchen for catering today’s meeting. Motion to adjourn was made at 12:48 p.m. and was passed unanimously.
